FIRES.
A WOMAN BURNED TO D3ATH. [Per Press Association.! ATTCKLAND, March 9. A twelve-roomed house at Ktmihia, near Huntly, was burned down at 3 p.m. to-day. It was the property of the Kimihia Coal Company. Mrs Martin, aged sixty-four, was burned to death in the building. Shortly before nine o'clock last night the firebells rang an alaim for a lire at the Crown Iron Works, in Armagh Street. When the alarm was given there was a very dense smoke, which extended for some distance up Armagh and Gloucester Streets, but no blaze could be seen for some considerable time.. The fire was in the galvanising; room at the"' back of ,the works, and' apparently, was. caused by some ashes which liad fallen from the galvanising oven and set fire to the wooden partition. The flames spread to the roof, but were nearly extinguished by several young men who were early on the scene before the arrival of the Fire Brigade, which finished the work with its chemical engines. The damage done can be repaired for about .£5.
