School Bank. — The Timaru Main School Bank now holds .£l2O to the credit of pupil depositors. A Low Average. — A farmer in the Albury district claims to have the record minimum yield of wheat ; a small paddock of his has threshed out only 40lb per acre. Amuri Siiekp Fair. — A special train will leave Christchurch on Friday at 8.40 a.m., and will leave Culverden on the return journey at 620 p.m., stopping where required. Irrigation. — The Canterbury Agricultural College Board has decided that <£50 of the .£IOO placed upon the estimates for experimental work shall be devoted to irrigation. The Waiau Bridge.— At the meeting of the Amuri County Council on Friday last, it was decided to spend .£3OOO on the repair of the bridge at the Waiau township ; the bridge at the present time is in a dangerous condition. Hororata. — On Sunday the Eev J. M. Simpson preached the anniversary services of Ht L'olumba's Church to crowded congregations. The soiree on Monday evening was well patronised, and addresses, refreshments and a programme of sacred music were given. TVaddington. — On Friday evening the friends of Mr Plaskett met him at a dinner in the Road Board Office, Sheffield, to say farewell, as he is leaving the district. Mr Ingram occupied the chairj and Mr Rutherford the vice-chair, and a very pleasant evening was spent, j Public School Cadets. — A company of cadets has been formed among tho bigger boys attending the Timaru Main School, and' Colonel Bailey reports that their drill and discipline are satisfactory. An application has been made for arms, and an effort will probably be made to raise funds to provide uniforms. ; Ashburton Horticultural Society.— A meeting of the committee of, this Society was held on Monday evening to receive the Secretary's report on tho late show and pass prize money. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Jones, of Ohnstchurch, for acting as judge at the show, and also to the ladies who provided music duvinff the exhibition. After passing accounts and a bonus to the Secretary, the committee rose. ___««-«———
