SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
. « The monthly meeting of the. Lyttelton District' School Committee was heid on Monday evening; present— Messrs Field (chairman), Dyer, Brice, Webb, Hobden, Radcliff c and the Rev C. Coates. Correspondence was read from the Board of Education as to the advisableness of opening a manual and technical class. The committee was of opinion that an effort should be made to establish such a class, and the Rev C. Coates, Messrs Field, Webb, and the headmaster were appointed a sub-committee to go into the matter and to interview the West Lyttelton committee. Mr Sandford, the instructor for the Board of Education, attended after the meeting and gave the committee all the information m his power. The head-master's report showed the average attendance to be 551, highest attendance 571, and number on roll 656. Accounts amounting to .£6 l<s 3d were pnssed for payment, and the meeting closed.
