[Per Press Association.! . . INVERCARGILL, Mabch 7. A considerable portion of the works of the Gore Meat Preserving Company was destroyed by fire early this morning. The company were to- start operations for the season to-morrow. t The -insurances are : — Standard «£4OO, South British .£4OO, New Zealand £350, National .£2OO, Australian Alliance .£l5O, Imperial .£l5O. ; WELLINGTON, March 7. A house at Oriental Bay, owned by P. Stevens and occupied by H. H. Chambers, manager of the Palatine Insurance Company, was burned this afternoon. . Everything, was destroyed. The house was insured for ,£550 in the Palatine and Alliance offices.
