THE ROUTE-MARCHING COMPETITION.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — The enthusiasm displayed on Saturday evening proves that patriotism in our Cathedral city has not died out. There is nothing more, gratifying to a volunteer than the feeling of appreciation. I trust a repetition of this patriotism will be shown towards our bands as an inducement for more music at our rotunda. Such recreation was never more necessary as an instruction to assist the elevation of the rising- generation. — I am, &c, W. H. DACOMBE.
