The Proprietors of the "Canterbury Times' propose to inaugurate a series of Photographh CoMPKTmOKS open to bond fide amateur photo graphers in all ports of New Zealand. For the firs competition three prizes will be offered. It v. essential that the photographs sent in should in suitable for reproduction in the paper ; otherwise they will be considered ineligible for competition Pictures -which have previously appeared in othei journals are prohibited. Photographs may tx printed on any paper, by any process, nnd may bf of any size, provided they be not smaller thai qnnrter-plate. They must be mounted on plaii card mounts. Competent jndg<?B have beer seenrfld, who are instructed to consider :— First Artistic Excellence ; second, Technical ExcelSiEuce ; third, Suitability for Kepeoddctiok. PBIZES. The prizes will be :— First, 2gs ; second, lg ; third, -Jg, together with bound copies of Stod<b»rt*£ photographs of famous cities, scenes and paint' ings. JUDGES. The judges are :— Messrs Page, Eeece and Hurst Seager. ENTEIES. Entries for the first competition, together with the names and addresses of the competitors, will be deceived NOT LATEB Than TUESDAY, April 26. . The result of the competition will be made known in thb "Canterbury Times" of May 1. SUBJECTS. The subjects for the First Competition are .— Punn Landscape. Landscape with Life. Each subject of equal importance. . Illustrative of Child Life. One figure only. The- proprietors reserve the right of reproducing {my photograph considered suitable that may be sent in for competition.
