LAND .BOARD.
An ordinary meeting of the Land Board ; was held yesterday; present — Mr Sidney "Weetman (Commissioner of Crown Lands), • Mr R. Meredith, M.H.E., and Messrs J. '. M'Laclilan, D. Macmillan and A. C. Pringle. J The following applications were granted : ] — W. T. Collins, Arowhenua village home- 1 stead, perpetual lease of 1 rood ; D. Leary, ( jun., Kokitairi settlement, Opihi, perpetual lease of 20 acres ; T. E. W. Dorward; Geraldine, perpetual lease of 935 acres. Applications for transfers of leases ] were granted of the Poini Manuka ' station, from W. Gerard to Miss Blanche : Gerard; perpetual lease of lot 48 r reserve t 350, from B. M'Alister to J. Clark. The ( Crown Lands Bangers' reports were considered, and upon their recommendations it was decided to draw the attention of the ' Cheviot County Council to the necessity of < destroying sweetbriar on the roadsides ; to . grant Messrs J. N. Hansen and E. Dunlop ', a tenancy of part of the riverbed in block Vin.^Lowry Peaks, Cheviot; to call upon Mr Acton Adams to clear gorse off the ' area, occupied by him in the Aylesbury 1 township; to offer to Mr D. Fraser 1 the occupation of the vacant lota , in the township in addition to his present holdings, and to charge Messrs Acton ' Adams?and Fraser 2s per acre per annum 1 as rent j to recommend the head office to 1 re-classify the land in the Darfield town- i ship as village land, and then to offer the t blocks for lease for terms of five years at an upset rental of 8s per acre per tmnnTn, ] with conditions for clearing gorse; the same to be laid down in grass, with re- ; sumption at six months' notice; to i recommend that if the Mackenzie Comity ■ Council will undertake the control . of the' plantations in the Albury settle- . ment, they should be reserved, .and vested in that body. It was resolved to ; issue temporary licenses to occupy, rent free, to Messrs A. Thompson, W. Cook, J. Connor, J. Siegert, J. Corbett, G. Major, T. D. Simpson, T. Sadler, A. Laverty and K. Casey, for occupation of the Tengawai riverbed, adjoining Albury, on condition of their keeping down gorse andTabbits. The Hnrunui Babbit Board was granted apiece ■ of land upon which to erect a caretaker's < cottage. It was resolved to recommend , that Mr Hugh Boyd should be granted a grazing lease of the bush land at Birch. Hill destroyed by fire, and which was [ previously held by him under a sawmill license. It was decided to recommend the : Government to vest gravel reserves on the Highbank Estate, in the Mount Hutt : Eoad Board. After transacting a good : deal of routine business, tbe Board rose.
