« , MEETING AT LYTTELTON. Ameeting was held in the Colonists' Hall, : Lyttelton, on Thursday night, to consider what steps should be taken to assist the sufferers by the bush fires in the North ; Canterbury district. His Worship the • Mayor (Mr A. Chalmers) presided. ( The attendance was only moderate. After discussing the position, those present were formed into a committee with power ; to fcdd to their number. The Mayor was appointed treasurer, and it was decided to i have subscription lists prepared, and left ■ at the Public Library, Messrs Owen aud ; Dyers, G. E. Collins, and the local offices of the Lyttelton Times and Press. His Worship the Mayor of Christcb-urch ■ has received the following contributions to ; the Relief Fund:— ,

As the Eight Hon the Premier will I probably be in Christchurch on Thursday i next, his Worship the Mayor has telegraphed, asking him to be present at the costume cricket match and the kinematoj graph entertainment on that day.
