TIMARU TOURISTS CLUB. Tho Timaru Tourists' bicycle sports were held yesterday in rough, windy weather which interfered greatly with the ride ' and marred the attendance, which was not more that 600. The Mile Novice Eace was won by W. H. Boys (50yds), the Three-mile by Aker (125 yds), the Half-mile by F. Nelson (100 yds), the Two-milo Jtoadster by A. Craigie (20yds) ; the Five-mile Provincial Championship of Canterbiwy by W. H. Hall, H. Amos being beaten by a bare length. Time — !4jniu 57£ecc. The Mile Ladies' Bracelet was won by A. Craigie 60yds, and the Two-tnilo Anniversary Handicap by A. Dorm 15yds. This was the best race of the day, and was- won by half a wheel from J. Orr 120 yds. Tho Fivemile Open Handicap was won by H. Aker 190 yds. There was a gooddoalof disappointment at Jones, Carl, and other Christchurch men not coming down. Most of fche races were spoilt by too liberal handicapping, and the result was that very few competitors were left in at the finish. The test race meeting of the Pioneer Bicycle Club will take place this evening at Lancaster Park, and will begin at 6.30 sharp. Messrs W. J. S. Hayward, H. Amos, V. Alexander, J. L. Carl, 8. . M'Knight, H. Thompson, J. Grant, D. BowInan, W. Robertson, and W. Tinsley^ have been asked to compete, and the rider scoring the most points will be chosen to go to tho championship meeting at Wanganui as one of the Club's representatives, with Mr W. J. Jones. A collection will be made at-fche gate for G. Sturgess, who met with a serious mishap on Boxing Day.
