[Pbb Press Association.! 1 • NAPIER, Jan. 27. The annual meeting of the North Island Bands Association was held to-day; Mr M. Cohen, president, in the chair. Fraser (Hastings), W. J. Woods (Palmerston), Bagnall (Feilding), Mayo (Marton), V. Moeller (Napier), F. 08. Loughnan (Waipawa), J. Paul (New 1 Plymouth ), John Huroheson, M.H. B. (Wellington), W. Park (Palinerslon), J. Townley (Gisborno), C. T. Russell (Auckland), F. M'Guire (Hawera), G. W. Hunter, M.H:R. (Waipawa), E. E. Major (Hawera), G. T. Hall (Woodville), W. F. Foster (Wanganui) and F. Pirani, M.H.R. (Palmersfcon) ; executive, Messrs Lawrence (Woodville), Smith (Marton), Baker (Wellington), T. Russell (Wanganui), Butler (Palmerston), Madigan (Napier Garrison), Higham (Hawera old Band), Graham (Jupp's Band) ; auditors, Messrs Brophy and Burmester ; treasurer, Mr Jas. Grace (Palmerston); secretary, Mr Frank J. Oakes (Wellington). Thenexi contest, under the auspices of the Association, will be held iv Palnierston on a date to be decided upon. There will bo two test pieces instead of one, and no " own choice" selection, the selections to be given to competitors three months prior to the contest. The ltdes were carefully revised, and will be sent to the affiliated bands as soon as printed. At the band contest the solo competitions were continued to-day. The result's were as follows: — Solo Horn E Flafc— R. iNichohon ("Wellington Garrison), 1; E. M'Keegan (Jupp's private band), 2. E Flat Bass— H. Dixon (Wellington Garrison), 1 j B. Taylor (Napier Garrison), 2. The test piece contest took place at the Theatre Royal to-night, in the presence of a crowded house. The proceedings werestill going on at midnight.
