Mr Thomas's, b g Skalewag, by Pell Mell— Theresa, 6yrs 1 Mr S. Gannon's bg Gozoczar, byGozo— The Orphan, 4yrs 2 Mr E. O'Connor's br h Mooi .field, by Cheviot —Bengal Light, aged 3 Nineteen horses staxte.. Betting: 3 to 1 agst Carrara., 12 to 1 Skalewag. Thrift held command to the distance, ■when Skalewag ran up, and, disposing of the leader in a few strides, won easily by three lengths. Time — lmin 16sec.
[Per Press Association. 1 MASTERTON, Jan. 26. Mr J. M'Ara, owner of Warnote, who ran second, is claiming the stakes in the President. Handicap at the late Wellington races, on the ground that the acceptance of the first horse (Zanella) was not in order.
