[Per Press Association.! AUCKLAND, Jan. 7. The New Zealand Crown mines, for three weeks ending December, crushed \ 1490 tens for a yield valued at ,£3220. The Waihi Silverton Company, for the three ■ weeks ending Dec. 31, -.thb mill working fifteen days, crushed 625 tons for 4450z of gold, valued at .£853. It is expected that the reef will be intersected at the No. 3 level by the end of the month. A little moro inquiry took place on the Exchange to-day for stocks. Rates were low, but the feature of the quotations was the reluctance shown on the part of holders to mention a selling price. The following business was done :—
Upper. Thames stocks had some attention. The cheaper Waihi stocks also found buyers ac low figures. NELSON, Jan. 7. It is reported, that a discovery of gold has been made within fifteen miles of Nelson as the crow flies, but the prospector is reticent, though his acquaintances have seen some good specimens which he is asserted to have. DUNEDIN, Jan. 7. The Glenrock Company (Macetown) for the month of December crushed 480 tons, giving 3210z 6dwt of melted gold, and twenty-four tons of concentrates produced .£77. The returns for the year are 3818 tons of ore, resulting in 25240z of gold, value .£11,296,. out of which .£2550 was remitted to London for dividends. The return from the Achilles mine, Bnllendale, for December was 210oz. The Roxburgh Amalgamated Mining and Sluicing Company washed up for last month 1370z 3dwt ogrs, value .£528 12s.
