PUPILS' CONCERT.

There was a large audience at the Art Gallery last night, when a vocal and instrumental concert was given by the pupils of Mr and Madame Winter^ assisted by several friends'. Several of the pupils showed signs of considerable promise, and rendered their, allotted numbers in a manner creditable to themselves and their teachers. Three part songs were creditably sung bj - a number of young ladies, "Lovely K o_e" being especially well sung. Mra Strain sang " The Last Rose of Summer " and "Hush Thee, O Sorrow." Miss Blick sang " Sleep, My Love, Sleep," and M_ Bingham sang "Last Night" and the waltz song "II Baccio." Among those who gave their assistance was Mr Corbett, whose singing of " Phyllis is my Only Joy" was decidedly good. Mr M-chor Winter sang "David Singing before "Saul," and took part with Mr A. Evans in the due. "The Moon has Raised her Lamp." The instrumental numbers were a pianoforte solo, Heller's "Tarantelle," artistically played by Madame Winter; Fesca's "Trio," admirably played by Madame Winter (pianoforte), Mr Tombs (violin) and Mis 3 Marsden (violoncello) ; and the violin trio, " This Magic Wove Scarf," given by young pupils of Miss Marsden — Misses Ruby Edgar and Dulcie Fraser and Master Frank Bushell, with Miss Edgar as pianist. This number was capitally played and gained an encore. Madame Winter played the pianoforte accompaniments very well.
