■ ■ 4 ■ AUCKLAND NOTES. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Dec. U. A lot of interesting work was got through at Ellerslie this morning. St Paul covered two miles, being assisted by Mai'kinch and Knight of Athol, and as usual the Cup favourite went really well, moving with great freedom throughput. Day Star traversed a mile and half alone, when St Elmo joined in and the pair broke away for another mile. Castor's son went free and well, and Armilla cast a round of the track behind her in a style which pleased. Panoply and Antares were worked over one mile and three-quarters at a useful pace, and Coronet rattled over a mile and a quarter in a taking manner. Dayntree, j who has greatly improved, proved too 1 good for Hermosa and another in a fivefurlong gallop. Mozel travelled three rounds at a good pace, and Conscript did similar work. Kingswood compassed two rounds at three-quarter pace, and Waiorongomai and Dorrett compassed a circuit at a sound pace. Nestor was apportioned a solid mile and a half, being assisted by 3li6s Nelson. Nor'-west and Flukem were schooled over the hurdles, and both jumped well. Sabretache galloped one mile and a half mile, being assisted by Lillie and Lady Cuisine. The gallop did not please the touts. Day Star has shortened to seven to one the Cup. St Paul is now quoted at sto 2. Waiuku arrives to-morrow. Blarney has been scratched for all engagements.
