Beceived Dec. 9. 5.30 p.m. LONDON, Dec. ts. .Ha meeting of the Royal Colonial Institute, Mr Savillo Kent read an interesting paper upon Australian natural history. Lord Loch presided. Iv the course o£ the discussion, Lord Loch said he trusted that the Institute would support the pro posed Antarctic exploration. He believed tliat the colonies strongly favoured the exploration of the South Polar regions. In this connection it may he mentioned that Herr Borchgrevinck, who some time ago visited Australia . and jN'ew Zealand with the object of raising funds towards 'the scheme, is expected to start from England iv July next. The party will include sereral scientific men. It is intended to land at Point Adair, and thence proceed south to the Pole on snowshoes. Herr Borchgrevinck will proceed to Norway at Christmas to practice snow-shoeing.
