[Pkr Fresh Association." 1 NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 10. Philpott, who is accused of Hawthorne's murder, is supposed to be identical with a man who in 1888 and 1889 was twice boforo the Supremo Court here on charges of larceny and robbery from the parson. On both occasions he was acquitted. Whilo awaiting his trial on the latter chargo ho escaped from the gang working at Motaroa, but was recaptured. He is not a native of Taranaki, but was born at Portsmouth, England. .
