THE VOLUNTEERS.
The annual meeting of representatives of the Associated Corps was held at the City Guards' orderly-room last; night, when Captain Creswell presided, and there were also present Lieutenants Merton and Bridgeman, Sergeants-major Treleaven and Berland, Sergeants Jeffreys, "Ward, Parker and Jackson, Corporals Inglis and Taylor and Trooper Ashton. An apology for absence was received from Colour-sergeant Steere. The balance-sheet showed the total receipts j to have been £55 14s Id, total expenditure £54 15s lid, credit balance at bank 18s 2d. There were no. liabilities. The balance-sheet was adopted. Three applications were received for the position of range caretaker. Corporal Ashton was appointed, and the meeting authorised the Chairman to issue all necessary instructions. The following officers were elected for the present year:— Chairman, Captain Creswell; honorary secretary, Private Moore; honorary treasurer, Colour-Sergeant Steere ; auditors, Battalion Sergeant -Major Foster and Captain Snow. It was resolved to discontinue the Thursday matches for the present. The range was allotted to : the following companies on the underL mentioned dates : Oct. 16 and Feb. 12, City Guards ; Nov. 6 and Jan. 8, Canterbury > Engineers; Dec. 4 and Jan. 15, Christ- - church. City Eifles ; Oct. 13 and March 5, ■ Canterbury Mounted Rifles; Dec. 11 and I March 12, Christ's College Rifles ; Feb. 5 . and March 19, E Battery. Votes of thanks ' concluded the business of the evening.
