It 1 originated in the Denver hotel, Bayley ! Street, early in the morning, and spread with immense rapidity to a block of wooden business places, destroying thirteen buildings. The fire was only prevented from sweeping the entire side of the street by dismantling adjoining premises. Water was very scarce, and the inmates escaped with difficulty in their night clothes. The charred remains of a woman were found in the ruins of the hotel, and it is feared that another person perished.
