AUCKLAND, August 26. The Hon J. Carroll has sent a reply to the respective applications for totalizator permits that have been made to him by the Auclcl«mcl Eacinar ami Piikuranga Hunt Clubs To the first-named club he has stated that he intends to carry out the dictum that no more than four permits will be allowed to any one club. A\ ith reference to the Pakuranga Hunt Club's application, Mr Carroll says that he has already refused a like request from a similar el n'b in another part of the colony, and that he cannot therefore make any distinction iv favour of an Auckland club.
