THE ROUTE.
The procession moved off up Mendiester Stretft, 'thence along High Street, " into Colombo Street and through Cathedral Square; and under the a,nch erected by the Christchurch Fire. Brigade from Hobbs's corner f to Messrs J. M. Hey wood and Co.'s. This -arch was a very effective one. It was composed, of the tw© telesoope ladders crossed, -with a fireman representing Britannia at the apex, and on either side I of Mm the Irish and Scottish, flags, and the British ensign waving over him. Just bel«fw was the handsome banner of the Brigade with its motto, *' Semper paratus." The ladders were festooned withevergreens and flags, and lined with firemen .in uniform. The goroeession then marched to Victoria Street and under the fine arch erected by the 'Grtjr Council. This repi*esented one of the entrances to Windsor Castle, and over each 6ide of the arch were tho words "tSrpd Save the Queen." The line of route then was taken along the river to tlie hospital, and thence along the Lincoln I Road totthe Show Grounds.
