A meeting of the Crown Lands Board was. held yesterday; present— Messrs S. Weetman (Commissioner), D. M'Millan, R. Meredith,, 1 M.H.K.;; A. C. Pringle arid J« l&PlkchlaiU' ! The following applications for of perpetual leases for leases in p6rpetuity.;;xinder section 150 of the J>and 3i!c<Vlß92,'"wß'te approved :— William Annett, formerly perpetual lease 154, lot 5, reserve 1381 ; William Annett, formerly perpetual lease V. 161, lot 48, reserve 1381. A number of applications for transfers of :lea ; ses>H,ttd licenses wei'e 1 granted. It was' resolved to grant Messrs M'Gregor and Wheeled yearly grazing licenses over land at Rabbitlslandatthevaluationreeonimended by the ranger, and to defer the Question of dealing with the small lots, pending inquiry by the Commissioner" of Crown Lands." "The Board decided to visit Cheviot on Tuesday, May 18, to inquire into matters connected with the estate. The surrender of Run 23, Albury, was approved of. It was resolved that, in the opinjion-.of the Board, the rents of Run 66,: •Waitangi, and Run 72, Grampians, are excessive, and that the Minister fcr Lands be recommended to accept surrenders., with a view to reducing the rent, a report on their value to be obtained from the ranger. It -was also resolved to recommend the Minister to approve of surrender of small grazing Run 17, rural section 36206, Station Peak, for the same reason. It was decided to notify the Minister of Lands that the lessees of the undermentioned properties were anxious to surrender their leases on the grouud that the rents were too high, and the Hoard wished to know if he was prepared to grant the applications with a view to the land being offered again at reduced rents. Lease in perpetuity 246, Rural Section 36223, Hunter's Hill ; do 430, Rural Section 36222, do; do 5204, Rural Sections 36475 and 36512, Rangitata; do 242-3, Rural Sections 36519-20, do; do 393, lot 27, Reserve 1381, do ; do 600, Rural Section 36352, Shepherd's Bush ; Perpetual lease 267, Rural Section 36293, do ; do 271 and 283, Rural Sections 36353-65, do; do 273, Rural Section 36351. The application of the Ashburton Acclimatisation Society for fishing rights over the Rangitata River bed was approved, of. Messrs J. Murray and W. K. Macdonald were granted prospectors' mininsr licenses at Mount Peel.
