LOCAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.
I Although rain fell on Saturday morning, the weather held up well during the afternoon, and the various football matches set down for decision were conducted under favourable circumstances. In the senior games, Kaiapoi, on its own ground, defeated Christchurch by a narrow margin. At Lancaster Park, Sydenham gave Linwood an unexpectedly tough struggle, and Merivale had but little trouble in defeating Albion.
