CRICKET.
o CANTERBURY CRICKET ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the General Committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association was held last night at Warner's Hotel ; present — Messrs W. H. Wynn-Williams (chairman), H. C. Ridley, C. R. Smith, H. D. Carter, J. L. Wright, F. Wilding, J. A. Caygill and F. C. Raphael (honorary secretary). It was resolved that the presentation of the various trophies in connection with last year's competitions should take place on Tuesday evening, May 18, at the hall of the Chamber of Commerce. A letter was received from the publishers of the New Zealand Cricketers' Annual, asking for secretaries of various clubs to obtain orders for the annual, in order that the continuance of the publication may be ensured. It was decided to inform the publishers that the Association could not guarantee any. special assistance, but that it would be glad to endeavour to persuade the various clubs to patronise the publication. A letter was read from the captain of the United Cricket Club's First Eleven, asking for the opinion of the Association upon the recent run-out case in which D. Reese and Frankish collided, the former being the batsman and being put out, whilst Frankish was the bowlei*. It was agreed to acknowledge the receipt of the letter, and to point out that the committee did not consider the question within the scope of its duty. Messrs Raphael and H". C. Ridley were appointed a sub-committee to arrange a programme on the occasion of the presentation of prizes. The question of sending a Canterbury team to the North Island next season was discussed, and it was agreed to let the question stand over for consideration at a future date.
