EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Executive Committee was held in the City Council Chambera at four o'clock yesterday afternoon ; present — Tho Mayor (in the chair\ and Messrs E. W. Roper, W. Harris, E. Smith, G. W. Eussell, H. B. Kirk, W. E. Mitchell, H. B. Sorensen, C. Louisson, J. E. Triggs, H. G. Ell and Dr E. Jennings. An apology for absence was received from Dr Mickle. Tho Chairman reported that tho Central Committee had taken full charge of the Hawke's Bay Eelief Fund, and that the various committees and all the officers were going to do their best for that object. The honorary Treasurer reported that up to date £353 llsvd had been received, of which .£2OO had been foi warded to Napier. It was resolved to forward another .£IOO at once, and tho chairman and treasurer were authorised to forward such amounts as they may from time to time think fit. On receipt of information that £d had been subscribed by the children attending the Normal School, and would be handed in to-morrow, the executive expressed its gratification at the result, and hoped that other schools would follow the good example thus set. Accounts amounting to .£ll Is 2d were passed for payment. It was resolved that the Chairman and Treasurer of the Executive Committee should be authorised to sanction any reasonable and | necessary expenditure recommended by the various sub-committees. The chairman of the Sports Committee was granted authority to engago Lancaster Park for the sports on May 24. It was further resolved that Tuesday, June 22, should be observed as Celebration Day. Mr A. H. Hancock was added to the committee, and the meeting terminated. The New Zealand Shipping Company charged an admission of 6d to their steamer Eimutaka •at Lyttelton on Thursday, on the occasion of the farewell demonstration to tho contingent. The sum of 30s was collected, and it has been handed to tho Mayor of Lyttelton, to bo devoted to the Kawke's Bay Eelief Fund. The committee of the Ashburton Club has forwarded a donation of £a to the Hawke's Bay Eelief Fund. The Musical and Dramatic Class of the Christchurch Working Men's Club will give an entertainment in the social hall on Thursday evening next, in aid of the Hawke's Bay Relief Fund. At a public meeting at Geraldine on Thursday night a committee was formed to make arrangements for collecting subscriptions in aid of the Hawke's Bay Eelief Fund, and a resolution waspassed expressing svinpathv with the sufferers, and
