ST MARY'S, MERIVALE.
The annual parish meeting of this church -was held last evening. There was a fair attendance. The Rev >H. A. Watson, the vicar of the parish, presided. The annual report showed that the Sunday-school teachers were doing j good work, but the number of pupils 'attending was very limited. During the year the organ in the church had been repaired, and the church painted at a cost of .£6O. The balance-sheet showed the expenditure to be .£528 10s 4d, and the receipts .£534 Us 3d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following were elected as officers for the year : — Chux'chwardens, Mr W. Deyenish Hears, appointed by the vicar, and Mr H. C. Satchell elected by the parishioners; vestrymen, Messrs A. H. Allen, A, Hobbs, R. Heaton Rhodes, W. B. Common, S. S. Blackburne, C. Treweek, W. Wheetman, G. L. Greenwood, Walcofc Wood, and H. Deal; auditor, Mr W. H. Cheesman. It was decided that the parish synodical representative should be requested to move a.resolution in the next Synod, which, if carried, would have the effect of allowing female members of the church to hold office on the vestry. The new Vestry were asked to take immediate action with a view to having the present debt of ,£322 14s lid on the parish paid off during the current year. The meeting was concluded with a concert.
