\ t Z .'-i^RTiSTic ''Printing. —An exceedingly i artistic specimen of the printers' craft has been produced by the LyHclton Tivics Company. It is a circular, in pamphlet form, to the orler of Messrs F. Hobbs and Co., tailors, Colombo Street. Some of the newest examples of art paper were used, of varying tints, and the printing is in black and vermilion, the borderings and designs bein,* particularly effective. Such a 'circular as this cannot fail to win appreciative attention. Good Templary. — The usual weekly meeting of the Hope of Christchurch Lodge was held on Tuesday evening, Bro O'Keeffe, 0.T., in ,the chair. Several returning delegates from Grand Lodge were present, and gave short addresses. The returned local delegate gave an interim report of tha . proceedings. The quarterly election of Officers • resulted as follows: — C.T., Brp A. Sando; V.T., Sister Parry ; * S.J.T., Sister Efford, senr; Secretary,. Bro A. H. Fellingham ; F.S., Sister M. Ashbolt ; Treasurer, Bro O'Keeffe; M., Sister, A. i Moore ; Chaplain, Sister Davis, sen. ; D.M., Sister Eastwood, \jun. ; A.S., Sister Fellingham. The attendance was very good, and hearty good-will pervaded and characterised the whole of the proceedings. The Lodge's fraternal greetings were sent to various Lodges through the visitors. A vote of sympathy with the Dunedin Lodge, J3ro Fish, M.H.R., and his relatives was; passed, and the Lodge closed. , , ' v ' Rangiora Athletic Association. — A meeting of the above Association was held at the Corn Exchange, Rangiora, last night. Mr J. W. Foster was voted to the chair. It was resolved that the value of the Provincial Bicycle Championship gold and silver medals should be JB3 and .£1 respectively. Tile action of the committee in taking legal proceedings for the recovery of the amount ,owing for the right of the confectioner's and luncheon booth was approved, and a vote of thanks was pnssed to Mr G. H. N. Helmore for gratuitous legal services. The Treasurer reported that the accounts to pay amounted to Ml 2a and the cash in hand to .£2l 4s 3d. This, with assets in the shape of subscriptions and other moneys collectable, would almost meet the liabilities. It was decided to pay all accounts at once, some of those in the room offering to guarantee a temporary overdraft for the purpose. Mr G. W. Luxton being absent through illness, a vote of sympathy with him was passed for the secretary to convey. The meeting then came to an end. Prevention op Cruelty. — The annual meeting of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will be held at the City Council Chambers on Friday, May 7. Interesting addresses will be delivered on the objects of the Society, and an attractive musical programme will be presented. Gymnastic Class. — A gymnastic class for boys is to be begun . at the Young. Men's Christian Association's rooms on Saturday. . The fee will be nominal, and -the class will give a good opportunity foxyouths to be well instructed in healthy exercises, which help to make them grow strong and vigorous and to djvelop their muscles. Chrysanthemum Show. — Since the schedule for next week's show was printed a vice-president of the society has given a special prize of two guineas for the best table decoration of chrysanthemums (any foliage) to be competed for by unmarried ladies. -The judging will be by the votes of those present at the show from two • o'clock till six o'clock on the first day. The show opens in the Art Gallery on Wednesday, at two o'clock, and will also be open all.day on Thursday. Free Novelties for Bots and Girls. — The agents for Suratura Tea, Hubbard, Hall and Co., are giving free to boys and girls puzzles and rulers for drawing.— [Aovt.] Great bargains in groceries, &c. Every article to be cleared out iinder cost. The proprietors of the Smithfield Market have taken up another business. The stock and shop for sale as a going concern. If not, the shop will be- to-let, and goods slaughtered. The sale now on. 1912
Presentation.— Yesterday afternoon at Messrs Maine Bros.' establishment, High Street, Mr C. W. Sears was presented by Mr Chidey, on behalf of the employes, with a beautiful inlaid mahogany writing desk, on his severing his connection with the firm.
