PROGRESSIVE LIBERAL ASSOCIATION.

-& The usual fortnightly meeting of the committee of tho Progressive Liberal Association was held in the Temperance Hall, Gloucester Street, on Thursday, evening, when there was a gooU attendance of members. Mr W. Ensom was voted to the chair; in the absence of tho president. A letter from the Hon W. M. Bolt on "Cooperative Industrial Settlements " was referred to the Lands Committee. A letter ' from Mr Sievwright (North Island), referring to the currency question was held over for a special general meeting of members. Mr Ensom, on behalf of tho Lands Committee, read the report, which was received and adopted, and on the motion of Mr Ell it was agreed that the report be handed to the Times for publication, and that the matters complained of iv the existing land laws be brought to the notice of the Minister of Lauds, with comments thereon, by the Chairmau of the Lands Committee. It was agreed to add the name of Mr Franklin to the Civil Service Committee, and that he should act as convenor. Mr Ell reported, as delegate on the Record Reign Committee, and his action was approved. It was decided to call a special general meeting of the Association, to discuss the Burnham report, on Thursday next. It was agreed to take up the new W.C.T.C. Room as the Association's committee-room. Mr Ell reported that Mr Tanner was willing . to deliver an address to the Association upon the public debt of New Zealand. It was agreed to thank Mr Tanner, and ask him to deliver tho address at an open meeting under the auspices of the Association. A donation of books for the beys' library at Burnham was reported upon by a member, and ifc was decided to forward the books to Burnham with a letter. The meeting closed at 10.20 p.m.
