* ; [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Aprili 23. At a meeting of the Auckland Bating Club Committee, it was decided to vote .£IOO to the Hawke's Bay flood relief fund. Subscriptions are steadily coining in from citizens to the fund. NAPIER, April 23. Trains now run from Te Aute southwards, and passengers can get through to Wellington in one day. The engineer to the Hawke's Bay County Council estimates the damage to roads and bridges at .£25,000. The Wairoa Council suffers severely, considering the comparative poverty of that county. The Patangata Council will also be put to considerable expense, but in Waipawa County the damage is but slight. No bodies of those drowned have yet been recovered, except that of Cunningham, shepherd at Chesterhope. NEW PLYMOUTH. Aprtt, .28. At a public meeting to-night, a Hawke's Bay relief fund was started. The sum of JS4S was subscribed in the room. WELLINGTON, April 23. At a public meeting, called by the Mayor, it was decided to raise a fund for the relief of the Hawke's Bay sufferers, and a sum of about ,£l 5O was collected in the room. O AMARU, April 23. I A meeting was held in connection with the Hawke's Bay relief fund. Mr J. Reid, of Elderslie, gives .£lO 10s, and Messrs J. j and T. Meek a ton of flour. DUNEDIN, April 23. | At a meeting to-night, in connection with the Hawke's Bay flood, a resolution of sympathy with the sufferers was passed, and a committtee appointed to raise subscriptions. Letters were received containing cheques for .£75, including one for ,£25 ! from the Otago Daily Times. At the ordinary monthly meeting of the Canterbury Branch Committee of the Associated Society of Eailway Servants, it was resolved to open subscription lists for the sufferers through the Hawke's Bay floods, and the committee hopes that all railway employes will respond liberally. At the instance of the Mayor of Ashburton, a meeting was held in the County Chambers, Ashburton, last night, to devise means to assist the sufferers by the floods. . The collections at St Stephen's Church to-morrow will be devoted to the same purpose. The Eev Messrs Hamilton and Inglis have also called a meeting of women to be held to-day to consider the advisability of sending parcels of clothing to the distressed settlers. A public meeting called by the Mayor of Woolston will be held in the local library on Thursday next, at 8 p.m., to consider the matter of rendering relief to those who have suffered by the floods in Hawke's Bay.
