ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
* ['Per Press Association.'! tfAPIEK., April 0. W. P. Smith, a noddle-aged .-man, was found dead at the* railway station at Hastings last night.' The deceased had a fit, but partially recovered, and was left sitting on a seat. PAEROA, April 6. A peculiar accident happened this mornin°- to a man named John Jackson, a labourer. He was standing outside Shaw's Commercial Hotel, and leaned back to support himself against a verandah post. He missed the post and fell backwards, striking his head against the fbor of the verandah, blood spurting from his ears, nose, aud mouth. Dv Buckley found that the man had received concussion of the brain, and he now lies in a dangerous condition.
