In the House of Commons Sir Charles Dilke urged that Great Britain should convene a conference with the object of enforcing better treatment to the natives in Africa. In reply Mr Cuvzon entf that Great Britain was parleying with the Powers with a view to holding a conference. He denied that the Niger Company was exercising an illegal monopoly. OBITUARY. Brahms, the eminent composer, is dead. CECIL RHODES. LONDON, April 4. Mr Cecil Rhodes has sailed for Capetown. THE NIGER COMPANY. Later details show that the Eloff incident was the outcome of a drunken brawl at a race meeting. Lieutenant Eloff, who ia a nephew of President Kruger, has resigned his military commission.
