AUCKLAND NEWS.

[Per Press Association.! AUCKLAND, March 23. A Maori named Pehohepa was charged at the Police Court this morning with having committed a breach of the railway regulations by gambling on a train. Defendant said he did not know that he was breaking the law. He was induced to play with Europeans and lost -69. When he got to Mercer he gave information to the police. The Magistrate convicted the defendant and fined him Ib, without costs, taking into consideration that he had been put to expense to come down and attend the Court.
