NEW BRIGHTON.

Owing to the heavy sea at New Brighton, and tho strong wind blowing last night, it was found impossible to carry out the Scottish concert which was to have been given on the pier. A good many people went down by the 7.15 p.m. trams, and upon arrival there, Pipers M'Tavish and Sturrock led the way to the pier, playing Scottish music. Upon arrival there itwas announced that the vocal part of theprogramme would have to be abandoned. The dancing, however, was carried out, Pipers M'Tavish and. Sturrock providing the music. Master Stewart contributed a sword dance, Mr Cnrrio a seauntreus, Mr Blunt a Highland fling, and Messrs Blunt, Currie, M'Tavish and Stewart a Scotch reel. By request, Pipe-Major M'Tavish played his own setting of "Robin Adair." The performers were afterwards entertained at supper at Hawker's Hall by the Pier Company, and after the repast songs were contributed by Mrs Bernard, Miss Watson,' and Mr W. Fraser. The party returned to town by tho 10.10 p.m. tram. Arrangements have been made for a Scottish concert on the pier at an early date, when it is hoped that the weather will prove more propitious.
