CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, Feb. 23. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) Drunkenness.— Daniel Crawford, who was charged with having been drunk, and with having used obscene language, was remanded for a month on his own recognisance of .£25. The Salvation Army authorities expressed their willingness to take the accused into their home, and he agreed to go. Committed to Burnham. — John Tucker Ford and Emily Ford were brought up as destitute children. Their father had left the district, and their mother was in the Convalescent .Home, and was withoiit means. They were committed to the Burnham Industrial School. Using a Defaced Postage Stamp. — Andrew Coekbum was charged with having defrauded the Postal Revenue by posting a letter bearing a defaced postage stamp. Mr Stringer appeared for the Crown. The defendant said he must have put the stamp on in mistake. He was fined 20s and costs. Maintenance. — Alexander Malcolm was ordered to pay 4s a week towards the suppqrt of his son at Burnham. — William J. Willis -was charged with being in arrears to thff extent of £1 on an order for the payment of 2s 6d a week .towards the support of his mother. The case was adjourned for three weeks. — Leonard Cunningham was charged with failing to support his brother, Cecil Cunningham, for whom Mr Fisher appeared. The case was adjourned for a week, to enable a summons to be served on the complainant's other brother. Prohibition Order. — A prohibition order was issued against a man, to apply to Christchurch and surrounding districts.
