A SENSELESS HOAX. A number of lads bathing at Lyttelton yesterday morning found a sealed bottle floating close to the shore. On the bottle being opened it was found to contain a piece of paper upon which was written tho following: — "We aru stranded on the rocks in 29 latitude vith no water or food. The mate and crew uvo building a raft to make Port Toxilpa. This is Sunday, Jan. 1, 1891. (Signed) Captain Moss." The bottle did not prosit!; the appearance of having been long i;i the water, and from the particulars on 11 o paper the affair may at once be dismissed as one of the foolish jokes that senseless people sometimes doviso.
