Union Rowing Club.— The art union for the bicycle in connection with the ■Union Rowing Club's carnival was drawn last evening by Mr R. C. Bishop, when Mr H. S. Gill was found to be the winner. Volunteer Range Association. — A meeting of the committee of the Chnstchurch°Volunteer Range Association was held in the City Guards' orderly-room last ni°-ht- There' was a good attendance, and Captain Creswell presided. It was decided that the ranges for the matches of the second round should be 300, 500 and (500 yds. A letter was received from the Minister of Defence, stating that he was unable to accede to the committee's request for a grant towards the cost of improvements to the range.
