SWIMMING.

EAKAIA AMATEUR SWIMMING CLUB. The first distance, 25yds, of the Junior Swimming competition was decided on Wednesday night, when nine faced the starter. The result was as follows : — Arthur Shephard 1, Edmond Howell 2, Sidney Oxley 3. The finish was very close, only about two feet separating first and fourth. On Monday niglit a meeting of the committee was held in the Library. The captain (Mr J. J. O'Neill) tendered his resignation, which was accepted with regret. It was decided to meet at an early date and arrange a sports programme. Accounts amounting to .£lB 10s were passed for payment.
