WORK AND WAGES.

THE ENGINEERS' STRIKE. [Per Press Association.! SYDNEY, Jan. 8. No further development has taken place with regard to yesterday's difficulty. The Secretary of the Engineers' Society denies the statement that, the Executive instructed the New Zealand engineers to leave their employment. As a matter of fact he wrote instructing them on no account to leave work unless instructions were cabled to do so. The Secretary therefore fails to understand the meaning of the resolution carried by the New Zealand engineers, and considers that the resolution of the Union Steamship Company expressing satisfaction at the supposed action of the engineers is based upon a false assumption.
