THE SMALL BIRDS NUISANCE.

The Temuka Road Board has expended up to the present __51 lis 8d upon the purchase of small birds' eggs and heads. In all, including the cost of poison, about ,8150 will be devoted to the destruction of birds. Up to date 5006 dozen eggs and heads have been received at the office. Members of the Board, who also purchaso eggs and heads, have been doing good business during the holidays. At a meeting of the Board, Mr M. Moore suggested that it should decline to pay for goldfinches' eggs. He said that ho had done so on the ground that the birds were harmless to grain crops.
