ST ALBANS BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The Works Committee asked for authority to call for and accept tenders for 400 yds of broken blue metal,. 200 yds of blue screenings and 300 yds of boulders. The report was adopted. The reports of the Inspector of Slaughterhouses and of the Foreman of Works were received. The dog registration fee for the- ensuing year was fixed at 10s. The Pres* was appointed the official paper for this year. Numerous complaints were received with regard to the manner in which the night-soil contractor was carrying out /his work, and it was unanimously Resolved that the Sanitary Committee should be authorised to take the necessary steps to cancel the contract • such cancellation not to relieve the guarantors of their liability. The Mayor reported what had been done at the recent conference with regard' to the- tramway concessions. The report was received, and the Mayor and Councillor Neate were appointed to continue as the Council's delegates. The Finance Committee was empowered to take legal advice,, if considered necessary, in connection with the proposed loan, to- ih|ike, the -necessary arrangements for the .ta_king.of the "poll ; : and also-, if deemed advisable, to have copies of the 'proposal printed for circulation. ••■ The meeting then closed. s
