THE ENGINEERS' STRIKE.
SYDNEY, Jan. 5. The meeting of engineers last night did little beyond passing a motion of . confidence in the officers. There is, however* every probability that a satisfactory result will be reached to-day. . . . .7 ■ At a meeting of Seamen's Unions it was reported to the members that the crews of a number of vessels had received twentyfour hours' notice that they wete not required ; this course being rendered necessary in the event of the engineers' strike being prolonged.
