SATURDAY'S MATCHLEES.

LANCASTER- PARK ELEVEN"! v.

LANCASTER PARK- THIRfEEEft*,

The only Senior. Ciip ; match plhyecb «jn Saturday, was that between the Lancasfcw Park Eleven and Thirteen. The; Eleven^. ! with two nien absent, batted first, but wifchi'i the exception of Orchard and Wildings made a comparatively poor stand again3fr Smith's bowling. Orchard gave two.' chances, but his innings was characterised! by clean, hard hitting. He was particularly, severe on Smith, whom he once hit out of the ground for 5. Wilding should have been caught before he got into double figures, and he gave some other chances which should have been taken. He batted, however, much more carefully than usual, and the greater portion of his runs were made by excellent strokes. The Thirteen had lost four wickets for 48, when Cant and Smith became associated, and the pair increased the score to 105 without losing their wickets. Both men played capital cricket. Cant's . cutting was particularly clean, while Smith's score, which was made by seven fours, one three and only two singles, was principally the result of welltimed leg-hitting. The fielding of both teams was indifferent. The following are the scores : — .. LAKCASTEK PARK ELEVEN. First Innings. H. C. Ridley, b Smith 4 S. Orchard, c Hobbs b Cant 54 F.
