ASHBURTON RACING CLUB.
Handicapper— Mr J. Cresswell. StarterMr C. O'Connor. The Ashburton Eacing Club held its Summer Meeting, on the Tinwald racecourse on Saturday. The weather was particularly unpleasant, as a strong noi'west wind, with clouds of dust, completely destroyed any chance of a pleasant outing. The fields were small in the principal races, and speculation was not) brisk — ,£1397 being passed through the totalisator — but some of the finishes were close. Several protests during the day delayed the proceedings considerably. Liberty and Diploma fell in the last race, giving their respective riders a severe shaking.
