Mason used the Zukertort opening, and' won aPawn at his 13th move, and gamed 1 so. strong a position that his opponent? retired on tlie- 18th) move.
Board 4— Meldrum v. Barnes: Queen's Gfcunbit. Meldrum won" a Pawn at? his 13th mow, but di&nofc keep his advantage, and allowed Barnes to regain his Pawn, with a winning attack, which he took advantage of, mating Meldrum' at lids 38th move.
