Second Dat. Handicapper, Mr H. * Brinkman ; Starter,
Mr C. O'Connor
There was a fairly good attendance on the second day's racing of the Canterbury Trotting Club's Summer Meeting, which was held on tho Show Grounds yesterday. Tho sum of =£3867 10s was passed through tho total isators, making a-total of .£BBO3 for the two days. The racing was fairly interesting, but the day's sport was marred by several protests. The decision of tho stewards to disqualify Electioneer, Ruadan and Ham, tho three placed horses in the New Year Handicap, met with some disapproval, especially as their action was the result of an appeal by the owner of the distanced fourth horse, who eventually won the race. It is understood that the owners of Electioneer have requested the Club to re-open the caso.
