THE BUBONIC PLAGUE.
SCENES IN BOMBAY.
PANIC AMONG THE NATIVES
[Per Press Association.] CALCUTTA, Dec. 30.
Tho ravages of the plague are causing terrible scenes to be enacted in Bombay. In one street alone twenty funerals started in as many minutes.
The lower-class nativ.es furnish the bulk of the victims, while native Christiana pass almost scatheless. This is said to be due to their more cleanly habits. Festivities and the social functions of the season are practically a dead letter. Those in a position to do so have fled to more healthy localities. The panic among tbe native castes is extreme iv character.
