o CHRISTCHUKCH. Saturday, Dec. 5. (Before Mr E. Beetham, S.M,) Maintenance.— Alfred Searle, on remand, was charged with being £6 5s in arrears, that amount being due for the maintenance of a child of which he was the father. Prisoner stated that he had been re-arrested immediately on the expiry of his last remand., and snggested that the Court should give him a sentence of six months, so that his imprisonment during remand might count towards the sentence. The Bench did not see its way to do this, and Searle was again remanded tratii Saturday next, to allow of a bond by friends guaranteeing payment being entered into on his behalf.
