MINING ACCIDENTS. • [Per Press Association.] SYDNEY, Dec. 2. i A shocking mining accident happened . at Gundagai. A man named Wilson was ( crushed to .death by a fall of earth. His > mate, Webb, was caught in the dSbris, and ■ great efforts were made to extricate him, but the mullock and water gradually rose ' t and drowned the unfortunate man inthe , presence of his helpless comrades. [ Two miners, named Curren and Smith, - have been found dead in the Stockton f mine at Newcastlo. It is supposed that [ they were suffocated by white damp. The . Government inspector fears that there I must be a fire in the old workings, or that > fire is generating, and has closed the mine r till a careful inspection has been made. , AUCKLAND, Dec. 2. It i» reported that a Maori named * Graham left Mercury Island for Euaotunu i on Nov. 21, and has not since been heard of, It ia supposed that he has been drowned.
