HOW TO VOTE.
On Friday next the electors of Christchurch will be called upon to make choice of three men to represent them in J'arliament for a term of three years. They will also be called upon to record their votes under the provisions of the Licensing Act. It is of importance, therefore, that every elector should understand beforehand precisely what he has to do. For the parliamentary election the ballot-paper will be in the following form : — ELECTORAL DIST-IOT OF CHRISTCHUBCH. BKSWIUK, H. J. COLLINS, W. W. CUI.JiEN, W. ]>ONNELr,Y, M. EM,. H. G. LEWIS, C. 'J he voter is to strike out the name of every candidate for whom lie or *lm does not intend to vote, by drawing a line throng ti the name witu a ptn or pencil. The ballot-paper is to be folded up sotlmttho contents caimor, be seen, and having shown the official mark on the back to the Keturning-officer, the ballot-paper is to be put into the ballot-box by the voter himself or herself. No ballot paper is to be taken out of the pollingbooth. Before entering the polling-booth, it is advisable that each elector should be provided with his or her number on the roll, much time being saved in this way. It may be well to mention the fact that speaking to any voter in the polling booth is an offence for which a penalty of .£2O is provided. The following is the form of the ballotpaper for the LICENSING POLL. I vote that the number of licenses existing in the district continue. I vote r.hat the number of licenses existing in the district be reduced. I vote that no licenses be granted iv the district. GENERAL DIRECTIONS. 7 he voter may strikeout all the proposals except one, or all except two, but no more. "he voter must strike out nil the proposals which he does not wish to be carried. If the voter strikes out all, or fails to strike out at least one of the proposals, the voting-paper will void. The votine-paper so marked is to be dropped by the voter into tin separate ballot-box prepared fur it, and not into theVame box as that iv which he drops his electoral ballot-paper. The voter is not allowed to take his voting-paper ou t of the polling-booth.
