The result of the Hastings mayoral election was as follows : — Mr Fitzroy 277, Mr Ellis 82. NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 25. Mr J. B. Roy has been elected Mayor for the fifth time, polling 310 votes to Councillor Furlong's 133. PALMERSTON NORTH, Nov. 25. The mayoral election., resulted as follows:—Mr W. T. Wood 344, Mr H. Haydon 185. WANGANUI, -Nov. 25. '.. The mayoral election to-day' resulted in a tie between the two candidates (Messrs A. as follows :— Mr H. D. Bell 1239, Mr G. Fisher 852. WESTPORT, Nov. 25. The mayoral election to-day was keenly contested, and the polling was the heaviest on record for a mayoral election. The result was the re-election of Mr H. Larscn for the fourth time. He polled 205 votes, Mr J. Scanlon 196 and Mr S. Riley 75. GREYMOUTH, Nov. 25. Mr J. T. Skoglund, the sitting mayor, was selected over. Mr Bell by a majority of 92. Mr "Ward was re-elected mayor of Brunnerton by a majority of 40. HOKITIKA, Nov. 25. Mr H. L^ Michel was elected mayor, beating Mr J. Mandl, the present mayor, by 55 votes. *Mr R. W. Wade, the third candidate, received very little support. DUNEDIN, Nov. 25. The city mayoral election resulted as follows-.— H. Gourlay 946, H. P.Hardy 549. Majority for Mr Gourlay 397. At Roslyn, Mr L. Kemnitz defeated Mr A. Matheson. , At Balclutha, where liquor and prohibition entered somewhat into tiie contest, Mr Corley (liquor) polled 119, and Mr D. Stewart (prohibition) 85. GORE, Nov. 25. The Gore mayoral election took place today, and resulted as follows : — Mr James Beattie 180, Mr A. J. Gibbs 80. For Mataura Borough, Mr T. S. Culling polled 56 and Mr H. Cameron 40. INVERCARGILL, Nov. 25. In the mayoral election, Mr Josiah Hanan polled 358 votes, as against 259 for Mr John. Stead. Both, are councillors. Mr Hanan will be the first native of the town to- occupy the chair. There was a good deal of the temperance element in the contest, Mr Stead being a prominent Good Templar and prohibitionist.
