CRICKET.

THE NEW ZEALAND MATCH. The Australian cricketers will arrive by the express from Dunedin to-night, when there will doubtless be a large attendance of cricketing enthusiasts to welcome them. The team is admittedly one of the strongest, if not the strongesb, that has ever left the shores of Australia, and lovers of cricket will during the next three days have the pleasure of witnessing the play of some of the finest living exponents of the game. The names of the individual members of the team are already so familiar that they can hardly be regarded as strangers, and this fact alone will no doubt attract large crowds to Lancaster Park. It will probably be long ere another chance is afforded of seeing such men as George Giffen, who is acknowledged to be the finest all-round cricketer of the day ; or Gregory, one of »the smallest, yet withal one of the greatest, of living batsmen ; or such magnificent cricketers as Harry Trott (the genial captain of the Australian team), or Darling, Iredale, Trumble or the others. The northern representatives will arrive this morning, and the team will indulge in practice at Lancaster Park during the afternoon. The match will commence at noon to-morrow, the luncheon adjournment being from 1.30 to 2.15 p.m. On Saturday evening the visitors will be entertained at a complimentary "social" at the Oddfellows' Hall.
